Following a significant blackout that affected the Iberian Peninsula, Spain's electricity grid operator, Red Electrica, has successfully restored 99.16% of the power demand. The operator confirmed that all transmission grid substations are now fully operational, marking a swift recovery from the disruption.
Portugal's Progress in Power Restoration
On the other side of the peninsula, Portugal's grid operator, REN, reported that power has been reinstated at 85 out of 89 substations, showcasing significant progress in overcoming the outage.
Cause of the Blackout Clarified
The blackout, attributed to grid oscillations, has been thoroughly investigated. European Commissioner Teresa Ribera emphasized that there is no evidence to suggest the outage resulted from sabotage or a cyberattack, providing reassurance regarding the integrity of the grid's security.
