
Eurozone Consumer Confidence Dips Further in April
In a concerning trend for the euro area, consumer confidence has taken a significant hit in April, as reported by the European Commission. The latest figures show a decrease of 2.2 points from the previous month, bringing the index down to a negative 16.7 points.
EU-Wide Consumer Sentiment Follows Suit
The downturn isn't isolated to the eurozone alone. Across the European Union, the consumer confidence index has also fallen by 2.1 points, settling at a negative 16, mirroring the euro area's economic unease.
Economic Sentiment and Employment Expectations Wane
Adding to the gloom, the economic sentiment indicator has dropped by 1.4 points in the euro area, landing at 93.6, with a similar decline observed in the EU at 94.4. Employment expectations have also taken a hit, with the index retreating by 0.7 points in the EU to 96.9, while remaining stagnant in the eurozone at 96.5.
