
Power Almost Fully Restored in Spain After Widespread Blackout
Spain's electricity grid operator, Red Electrica, announced on Tuesday that 99.16% of demand has been successfully restored following a significant outage that affected the Iberian Peninsula the previous day. The operator confirmed that all transmission grid substations are now fully operational, marking a swift recovery from the disruption.
Portugal's Progress in Power Restoration
Meanwhile, Portugal's grid operator, REN, reported that power has been reinstated at 85 out of 89 substations, indicating steady progress in overcoming the challenges posed by the blackout.
Cause of the Blackout Clarified
The incident was attributed to grid oscillations, with European Commissioner for Competitiveness and First Executive Vice-President for Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, Teresa Ribera, emphasizing that there were no signs of sabotage or cyberattacks involved in the massive power failure.
