Positive Shift in German Consumer Confidence
According to a recent joint report by the market research institute GfK and the Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions (NIM), consumer confidence in Germany is projected to improve in May, reaching negative 20.6, up from a revised figure of 24.3 in the previous month.

Impact of US Trade Policy and Domestic Political Developments
Rolf Buerkl, a consumer expert at NIM, noted that the recent adjustments in the US administration's trade policy, including announced tariff increases, have not yet significantly affected German consumer sentiment. He attributed this resilience to the successful conclusion of coalition negotiations and the expected formation of a fully operational government, which may have mitigated potential negative impacts.
