Spotify Announces Global Subscription Price Increase, Excluding the US Market

According to a recent report by the Financial Times, Spotify Technology S.A. is planning to raise its subscription fees in several countries around the globe this summer. Sources familiar with the situation have indicated that the changes could take effect as early as June.

Details of the Price Hike

The streaming giant is expected to increase prices by approximately €1 for individual subscriptions, primarily affecting European and Latin American markets. Notably, the United States, Spotify's largest market, will not see any price adjustments at this time.

US Pricing Remains Unchanged

Since its last price revision in July 2024, the monthly subscription cost in the US has remained at $11.99. This marks a significant increase from the original $9.99 rate when Spotify first launched in the country 14 years ago.

Market Reaction: Following the announcement, Spotify's shares experienced a 2.61% increase, trading at $622.51 by 2:05 pm ET.
