Self-Reliance with Open Doors

Goyal emphasized India's focus on self-reliance, or 'Atmanirbharta', while also welcoming global trade. "We are not closing the doors to the world. We are in fact opening the doors wider because every country will have its competitive advantages for different products," he said.

Protective Measures and Vigilance

The minister also addressed the recent imposition of a 12% safeguard duty on steel imports, stating that the Modi government remains vigilant and proactive in supporting Indian industries against unfair trading practices. "We have been able to protect the steel industry from unfair dumping of steel," Goyal affirmed.
