Government Scrutiny for Bharti Airtel's AGR Dues Conversion

Bharti Airtel's substantial adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues, amounting to approximately Rs 41,000 crore, will not be automatically converted into equity. The Department of Telecom (DoT) is set to scrutinize the telco's application for such a conversion, as revealed by an official source on Friday.

Bharti Airtel's AGR Dues Scrutiny

Following the government's relief measures for Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel has requested the conversion of its AGR dues, including interest liabilities, into equity. However, the source emphasized, "The application does not imply automatic processing. It requires thorough evaluation and scrutiny before any final decision is reached."

Attempts to obtain comments from Bharti Airtel via email were unsuccessful.
