Indian Railways Accelerates: Over 20% of Tracks Now Support Speeds Up to 130 kmph

Revolutionizing Train Travel in India

Indian Railways has taken a significant leap forward in enhancing train travel speeds across the country. Officials have announced that over one-fifth of India's railway tracks are now capable of supporting train speeds up to 130 kmph. This achievement is the result of implementing advanced safety measures, including fencing and modern signaling systems.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that 54,337 track kilometers (TKM) can accommodate speeds up to 110 kmph. The railway's efforts to upgrade its infrastructure are part of a broader initiative to reduce journey times and improve connectivity across the nation.

Upgrading for the Future

Indian Railways is not stopping here. Plans are underway to upgrade major stretches on the Golden Quadrilateral to allow for semi-high speed trains, with maximum speeds of up to 160 kmph. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency and speed of train travel in India.

Amidst these developments, Indian Railways has also shown improved financial performance, with a 4% rise in earnings and a 2% increase in capital expenditure during the current fiscal year. The passenger segment earnings have seen a 6% increase, reaching Rs 55,988 crore.

With the introduction of 62 special trains on popular routes and the addition of 74 additional services, including 34 pairs of Vande Bharat trains, Indian Railways is setting new benchmarks in train travel and operational efficiency.
