Power Almost Fully Restored in Spain
Following a massive outage that left the Iberian Peninsula in darkness, Spain's electricity grid operator, Red Electrica, announced on Tuesday that 99.16% of demand has been successfully restored. The operator confirmed that all transmission grid substations are now fully operational.
Portugal's Recovery Progress
Meanwhile, Portugal's grid operator, REN, reported that power has been restored to 85 out of 89 substations, marking significant progress in the recovery efforts.
Cause of the Blackout
The blackout was attributed to grid oscillations, with European Commissioner Teresa Ribera emphasizing there were no signs of sabotage or cyberattacks involved in the incident.
