February Sees a Surge in German Trade Surplus
In a surprising turn of events, Germany's trade surplus climbed to €17.7 billion in February, up from €16.2 billion in January, according to the Federal Statistical Office Destatis. This figure, however, marks a decline from the €22.6 billion surplus recorded in February 2024 and fell short of analysts' expectations.
Exports and Imports Show Mixed Trends
Adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, Germany's goods exports reached €131.6 billion, showcasing a 1.8% increase month-on-month and a slight 0.1% rise year-on-year. On the other hand, imports totaled €113.8 billion, with a 0.7% monthly increase and a more significant 4.6% annual growth.
Trade Dynamics Within and Beyond the EU
