Industrial production in Germany's manufacturing sector experienced a 1.3% decrease on a monthly basis in February, according to a provisional report released by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis on Monday. This marks a significant 4% drop compared to the same month last year.
Sector-Specific Impacts
The construction industry was notably affected, with a 3.2% decline from the previous month. The food industry manufacturing saw a sharper decrease of 5.3%, while energy production fell by 3.3% month-on-month.
Goods Production Trends
Production of intermediate goods slightly declined by 0.4%. Meanwhile, the output of consumer goods and consumer goods experienced a 3.0% fall from January 2025, highlighting broader challenges in the industrial sector.
