Trump Escalates Trade War with China: Threatens 50% Tariffs Unless Beijing Backs Down

Trump's Ultimatum to China

US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to China through his Truth Social platform, threatening to impose an additional 50% tariffs on Chinese goods unless Beijing retracts its retaliatory duties by April 8.

The Deadline Looms

"Therefore, if China does not withdraw its 34% increase above their already long term trading abuses by tomorrow, April 8th, the United States will impose ADDITIONAL Tariffs on China of 50%, effective April 9th," Trump declared.

A Stalled Negotiation

Trump has made it clear that the US will not engage in tariff discussions with China until the staggering $1 trillion trade imbalance is resolved. This comes after China's response to US tariffs with a 34% tax on American products, further escalating tensions between the two economic powerhouses.
