
Germany's Trade Surplus in February
In a surprising turn of events, Germany's trade surplus expanded to €17.7 billion in February, up from €16.2 billion in January. However, this figure marks a decrease from €22.6 billion recorded in February 2024 and fell short of analysts' expectations, as reported by Destatis, the Federal Statistical Office of Germany.
Exports and Imports Overview
On a seasonally adjusted basis, Germany's goods exports climbed to €131.6 billion, showing a 1.8% increase month-on-month and a slight 0.1% rise year-on-year. Imports also saw growth, reaching €113.8 billion, up by 0.7% from January and 4.6% compared to the same period last year.
Trade with EU and Non-EU Countries
Exports to other European Union countries grew by 0.5% in February to €70.2 billion, while imports surged by 2.3% to €58.6 billion. Meanwhile, trade with non-EU countries witnessed a 3.2% increase in exports to €61.4 billion, with imports declining by 1% to €55.2 billion.
