According to a provisional report released by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis on Monday, industrial production in Germany's manufacturing sector experienced a 1.3% decrease on a monthly basis in February. This marks a significant downturn, with a 4% drop compared to the same month last year.

Sector-Specific Impacts

The construction industry faced a 3.2% decline from the previous month, while the food industry manufacturing saw a sharper decrease of 5.3%. Energy production also fell by 3.3% month-on-month, highlighting widespread challenges across key sectors.

Goods Production Trends

Production of intermediate goods slightly declined by 0.4%, and the output of consumer goods fell by 3.0% from January 2025, indicating a broader trend of reduced manufacturing activity.
