WTO Evaluates China's Appeal Against EU's BEV Duties
The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced it is reviewing China's request to establish a dispute panel. This panel would examine the European Union's recent imposition of duties on battery electric vehicles (BEVs) imported from China.
China's Stance on EU's Trade Measures
China argues that the EU's actions violate the WTO's Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994. The country is seeking a fair resolution through the WTO's dispute settlement mechanism.
EU's Defense of Its Position
The European Union, however, stands firm on its decision, stating that the measures are justified and in full compliance with WTO regulations. The EU also highlighted that it has shared all necessary information with China during prior discussions.
