Canadian PM Open to Dialogue with US President
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has expressed his readiness to engage in discussions with US President Donald Trump, highlighting the absence of direct communication between the two leaders so far.
Carney's Stance on Canada-US Relations
"I am available for a call with Trump. Canada will talk on our terms as a sovereign country. I assume Trump is waiting to see who wins the General Election before calling the winner," Carney stated during a recent speech.
Snap Election Called Amid Rising Tensions
Carney, who took office just nine days ago following Justin Trudeau, has announced a snap election set for April 28. This decision comes as Canada faces increasing trade tensions with the US and controversial remarks from Trump suggesting Canada should become the 51st state of America.
