South Korea's Inflation Edges Up to 2.1% in March, Surpassing Expectations

According to the latest data released by Statistics Korea on Wednesday, South Korea's annual inflation rate increased to 2.1% in March, up from 2% in February. This slight uptick was higher than what analysts had anticipated.

Monthly Consumer Price Index Update

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a 0.2% rise on a monthly basis, aligning with expectations but slightly down from the 0.3% increase observed in the previous month. Excluding volatile items such as fresh food and energy, the core CPI rose by 1.9% year-on-year, a modest increase from February's 1.8%, and saw a 0.2% month-on-month growth.
