France's Inflation Rate Drops to 0.8% in February

In a recent report by INSEE, France's statistical office, the annual inflation rate for February was confirmed at 0.8%, marking a notable decrease from the previous rate of 1.7%. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) also saw a modest increase of 0.2% from the previous month.

The primary factors contributing to this decline include a significant 5.8% drop in energy prices and a slower rise in service prices, which increased by 2.2% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, food prices experienced a slight acceleration, reaching 0.3%, and tobacco prices saw a 4.5% increase, down from 6.0% in February 2024.

Additionally, the annual core inflation rate, excluding food and energy, was reported at 1.3% in January, slightly down from 1.4% in the previous month.
