Vietnam's Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Exports Soar by 8.3%: A Deep Dive into the Surprising Growth

Record-breaking Exports in February

Vietnam achieved a remarkable milestone in February, earning $4.4 billion from agro-forestry-fisheries exports, a 37.2% increase from the previous year. This surge highlights the country's growing dominance in the global market.

Diverse Sector Contributions

From January to February, agricultural products led the charge with $4.89 billion, up by 4.5%. Animal farming contributed $72.2 million, marking a 4% increase. Aquatic and forestry products also saw significant growth, with exports rising by 18.6% and 11.9%, respectively. Salt exports doubled, reaching $1.4 million.

Market Dynamics

Asia remains Vietnam's largest market, accounting for 42.2% of total exports. The Americas and Europe follow, with 24.2% and 15.5% shares, respectively. Africa and Oceania represent smaller portions at 2.9% and 1.4%.

Key Product Performance

Vietnam's coffee exports to Germany, Italy, and Japan reached $1.58 billion, despite a 28.4% drop in volume, thanks to a 76.3% increase in average export prices. Pepper exports also saw a value increase of 52% to $188.7 million. Rice exports grew in volume but faced a 13.6% drop in value. Fruit and vegetable exports declined by 11% to $724.5 million, with China remaining the largest market.
