Price Reductions Announced
In a recent development that brings relief to businesses, the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) have been slashed by 1.5%, and the cost of commercial LPG for hotels has been reduced by Rs 14.5 per 19-kg cylinder. This adjustment was made during the monthly revision, with state-owned fuel retailers reporting the changes.
Impact on Different Cities
Following the reduction, the ATF price in Delhi has decreased to Rs 90,455.47 per kilolitre, while in Mumbai, it has been adjusted to Rs 84,511.93 per kl. Similarly, the commercial LPG price in Delhi now stands at Rs 1,804 per 19-kg cylinder, marking the first reduction after five consecutive monthly increases.
Variations Due to Local Taxes
The differences in ATF and LPG prices across various states are attributed to the varying local taxes, including VAT. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) are the key players that adjust these prices monthly, taking into account the average international fuel prices and foreign exchange rates.
Stable Petrol and Diesel Prices
It's noteworthy that the prices of petrol and diesel have remained unchanged since a Rs 2 per litre reduction in mid-March, just before the general elections. This stability in fuel prices is a significant factor for the economy and the consumers alike.
