JSW Energy's Strategic Acquisition for a Sustainable Tomorrow
In a bold move towards sustainability, JSW Energy, led by Sajjan Jindal, has announced a significant all-cash deal to acquire the green energy business of O2 Power. This acquisition, valued at approximately $1.4 billion, marks a pivotal step in JSW's ambition to reach a 20 gigawatt (GW) generation capacity by April 2030.
Building a Renewable Energy Powerhouse
Through its subsidiary, JSW Neo Energy, JSW will acquire full interest in O2 Power Midco Holdings Pte Ltd and O2 Energy SG Pte Ltd. O2 Power, established in November 2019 by former ReNew Power executives, boasts a 4.7 GW portfolio of renewable energy projects across seven states, including wind, hybrid, and round-the-clock renewable capacities.
Investing in the Future
JSW Energy plans to invest an additional Rs 13,000-14,000 crore in O2 Power over the next few years, aiming for a blended average tariff of Rs 3.37 per unit. This investment underscores JSW's commitment to enhancing its operational footprint and solidifying its position as a leader in India's energy sector.
A New Chapter for O2 Power
This transaction not only signifies a major achievement for JSW Energy but also marks a new beginning for O2 Power. With a strong portfolio and an exceptional team, O2 Power has emerged as one of the fastest-growing renewable energy companies in India, setting a benchmark for success in the green energy domain.
