India's Electronics Sector Urged to Embrace Six Sigma for Unmatched Quality and Innovation

India's Push for Excellence in Electronics Manufacturing

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has called on electronics component manufacturers to aim for Six Sigma quality standards and establish in-house design teams to benefit from the government’s Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw urges for Six Sigma quality in electronics manufacturing

Speaking at the launch of the ECMS guidelines portal, Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of design capabilities and quality, stating, "If you don’t have a design team and even if you are fulfilling all your parameters, we will not approve you. Design teams have to be set up."

Quality Over Quantity

The minister highlighted the significance of adhering to Six Sigma methodologies to minimize defects and ensure near-perfect output. "Nothing less than Six Sigma will be tolerated," he asserted, indicating that evaluations would focus not just on manufacturing volume but also on the quality of production.

Vaishnaw also noted the positive steps taken by some companies in producing dyes and tools necessary for manufacturing finished electronics components, marking progress in India’s electronics ecosystem.
