US Crude Oil Inventories See a Slight Increase Amidst Refinery Activity Adjustments

Crude Oil Inventories Rise

Commercial crude oil inventories in the United States, not considering those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), went up by 500,000 barrels to 442.9 million barrels in the week ending April 11, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) stated in its report published on Wednesday.

Refinery Operations and Gasoline Production

Oil refinery inputs averaged 15.6 million barrels per day (bpd) during the week ending April 11, decreasing by 64,000 bpd compared to the previous week's average. Refineries operated at 86.3% of their operable capacity. Meanwhile, gasoline production increased and averaged 9.4 million bpd.

Crude Oil Imports and Petroleum Inventories

Crude oil imports went down by 189,000 bpd week-on-week to average 6 million bpd. Total commercial petroleum inventories decreased by 2.1 million barrels last week.
