EU Approves Two-Year Extension of Gas Storage Regulations
The European Commission has given its nod to extend the current gas storage regulations by two years, a move aimed at enhancing energy security and protecting the bloc from the unpredictability of market conditions.

Flexibility for Member States
Under the Council's mandate, the 90% gas storage filling target before winter will remain, but with increased flexibility for member states. This includes extending the deadline from October 1 to December 1, making interim targets indicative, and permitting deviations of up to 10% during adverse market conditions.
Provisions for Persistent Disruptions
The European Commission retains the authority to authorize further deviations in cases of persistent market disruptions, ensuring the bloc's energy security is not compromised.
