ECB Official Criticizes Trump's Deregulation Agenda
At the Eurofi conference in Warsaw, Francois Villeroy de Galhau, a member of the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council and Bank of France Governor, voiced strong opposition to the financial deregulation policies advocated by United States President Donald Trump. Villeroy emphasized that the EU must not follow this "wrong path," warning that it could lead to future financial crises.
Lessons from the 2008 Crisis Ignored
Villeroy highlighted the dangers of forgetting the lessons learned from the 2008 global banking crisis. "A strong wind is blowing from across the Atlantic," he said, pointing to the "dangerous temptation" of deregulation. According to Villeroy, such measures would only "sow the seeds of future financial crises," undermining the stability of the global financial system.
