President Trump Revitalizes US Coal Industry with New Executive Orders to Power AI and Beyond

Trump Signs Executive Orders to Boost US Coal Industry

In a significant move to revitalize the United States coal industry, President Donald Trump signed executive orders on Tuesday. These orders are designed to strengthen the nation's electric grid and ensure the continued use of coal power plants for electricity generation.

"This is a pivotal moment for our country as we revive an industry that was once considered abandoned," Trump remarked. He emphasized the importance of coal by stating, "I refer to it as beautiful clean coal. It's essential that we recognize its value in our energy portfolio."

Furthermore, the President highlighted the growing demand for energy, especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), noting, "Our current energy and electricity capacities need to more than double to support advancements in AI." To facilitate this, Trump announced plans to leverage the Defense Production Act to enhance coal mining operations.

The executive orders will instruct the Interior and Energy Departments to take several actions, including identifying coal resources on federal lands, removing obstacles to coal mining, preventing the premature closure of existing coal plants, and prioritizing coal leasing on US lands.
