Trump Escalates Trade War with China, Threatens 50% Tariffs in Bold Move

US President Donald Trump Issues Ultimatum to China

In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing trade tensions, US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to China via the Truth Social platform. Trump declared that the United States would impose an additional 50% tariffs on Chinese goods unless Beijing retracts its retaliatory duties by April 8.

The Deadline Looms

"Therefore, if China does not withdraw its 34% increase above their already long term trading abuses by tomorrow, April 8th, the United States will impose ADDITIONAL Tariffs on China of 50%, effective April 9th," Trump stated, setting a tight deadline for resolution.

Trade Imbalance at the Heart of Dispute

Trump's latest move comes after he reiterated the US's stance on not engaging in tariff discussions with China until the $1 trillion trade imbalance is addressed. This follows China's imposition of a 34% tariff on all US goods, marking a significant escalation in the trade war between the two economic giants.
