In a move that underscores his lifelong commitment to generosity and care, the late industrialist Ratan Tata has left a significant portion of his estate to his house helps, office staff, and even pets, totaling over Rs 3.5 crore. This act of kindness extends beyond monetary gifts, including the waiver of loans for several individuals.

Details of the Bequests

Among the beneficiaries are his long-time cook Rajan Shaw, who received over Rs 1 crore, including a loan waiver of Rs 51 lakh, and butler Subbaiah Konar, who was bequeathed Rs 66 lakh. Domestic servants with over seven years of service were allocated Rs 15 lakh, while part-time helpers and car cleaners received Rs 1 lakh each. Tata's clothing, comprising luxury brands, will be donated to NGOs for the underprivileged.

Special Mentions and Loan Waivers

Notably, loans for his executive assistant Shantanu Naidu's MBA studies and neighbour Jake Malite's education were waived, amounting to Rs 1 crore and Rs 23.7 lakh respectively. His German shepherd, Tito, was allocated Rs 12 lakh for care, with quarterly disbursements to Rajan Shaw.

Tata's will also detailed bequests to ex-Taj employee Mohini Dutta and RNT Associates, among others. The executors of his will, including his half-sisters and a close friend, were each given Rs 5 lakh as a token of appreciation for their efforts in executing his wishes.
