Germany Sees a Slight Decrease in Inflation Rates

In a preliminary report released on Monday, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced that Germany's annual inflation rate edged down to 2.2% in March from 2.3% in February. This slight decline hints at a stabilizing economy amidst global uncertainties.

Monthly and Yearly Price Index Movements

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) experienced a 0.3% increase over the month. Meanwhile, the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI), which excludes the volatile food and energy sectors, showed a 2.3% year-on-year rise and a 0.4% month-on-month increase.

Food and Energy Prices Trends

Food prices saw a 2.9% increase compared to March 2024, whereas energy prices took a downturn, decreasing by 2.8%.
