Trade Policy Uncertainty to Be Resolved Soon
According to Kevin Hassett, Director of the United States National Economic Council, the uncertainty surrounding the Trump administration's trade policy is expected to be resolved by early April. This comes as a new set of tariffs is set to take effect on April 2. Hassett believes these measures are beginning to achieve their goal of bringing manufacturing companies and jobs back to the United States.
Economic Outlook and Predictions
Hassett shared with CNBC that the US economy might see a contraction in the first quarter, a situation he attributes to the legacy of former President Joe Biden. However, he remains optimistic, suggesting the economy might still manage to enter positive territory. He cites several reasons for a bullish outlook on the economy, predicting a significant upswing in the second quarter, especially if the proposed tax cuts are approved.
