January Sees a 2% Rise in German Industrial Output, Signaling Economic Resilience

Industrial Production on the Rise

In a promising sign of economic resilience, Germany's industrial production in the manufacturing sector witnessed a 2% increase on a monthly basis in January, according to a provisional report released by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis on Monday. However, when compared to the same month last year, there was a slight decline of 1.6%.

Sector-Wise Growth

The automotive industry led the charge with a significant 6.4% jump from the previous month. Not far behind, the food industry and machine maintenance and assembly sectors saw their production climb by 7.7% and surge by 15.6% month-on-month, respectively.

Intermediate and Consumer Goods

Production of intermediate goods also saw an upward trend, advancing by 3.3%. Meanwhile, consumer goods and consumer goods output experienced a 2.4% rise from December 2024. Contrarily, the energy production sector faced a minor setback with a 0.5% decrease in January.
