Kevin Hassett, Director of the United States National Economic Council, announced on Monday that the ambiguities surrounding the Trump administration's trade policies are expected to be cleared up by early April. This comes as a new set of tariffs is set to be implemented on April 2. Hassett is optimistic, stating that these policies are beginning to achieve their goal of bringing manufacturing companies and jobs back to the United States.

In an interview with CNBC, Hassett shared his expectations for the US economy. Despite predicting a contraction in the first quarter due to challenges inherited from the Biden administration, he believes the economy will narrowly avoid a downturn. Hassett highlighted several reasons for optimism and anticipates a significant economic upswing in the second quarter, especially with the potential approval of new tax cuts.
