Vietnam Aims to Transform into Southeast Asia's Premier Economic and Trade Hub by 2030

Vietnam's Vision for Economic Leadership

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has outlined Vietnam's ambitious plan to become a leading economic, trade, and investment hub in Southeast Asia by 2030. This vision was shared during a significant dialogue with 16 major European corporations and enterprises, aiming to foster cooperation and investment for achieving a robust growth rate of at least 8% this year.

Strengthening EU-Vietnam Relations

With the European Union's investment in Vietnam reaching $30.4 billion, making it the sixth-largest foreign investor, and bilateral trade hitting $68.5 billion last year, the partnership is stronger than ever. European business leaders have lauded Vietnam's improved business environment, thanks to recent regulatory reforms enhancing transparency and legal clarity for investors.

Commitment to Long-term Growth

European enterprises have expressed their commitment to long-term operations in Vietnam, pledging to collaborate closely with the Vietnamese government to attract more international investors. They emphasized the need for Vietnam to enhance its global promotion efforts to boost tourism and investment, improving its national competitiveness and global brand presence.

Strategic Advantages and Future Prospects

Prime Minister Chinh highlighted Vietnam's strategic advantages, including its large population, prime geopolitical position, and stable environment, making it an ideal hub for production, business, and exports. He reassured European investors of Vietnam's commitment to providing a secure and beneficial investment destination, emphasizing the nation's readiness to welcome high-level EU leaders for substantive visits to further improve the investment climate.

Call for Collaboration and Support

Chinh urged stronger collaboration between European and Vietnamese businesses to integrate supply chains, diversify markets, and establish Vietnam as a long-term production hub for the EU. He also called for European support in ratifying the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement and lifting the IUU 'yellow card' against Vietnamese seafood exports, among other initiatives.
