According to the latest report from Italy's National Institute of Statistics (Istat), the Producer Price Index (PPI) experienced a 1.1% increase in December 2024 compared to the same month in the previous year. On a month-to-month basis, the index saw a 0.6% rise, indicating a steady upward trend in producer prices.

Key Sectors Driving the Increase
The wood, paper, and printing industry stood out as the primary contributor to the year-on-year growth, with a significant 1.5% increase domestically and an even more impressive 6.1% rise within the euro area. Conversely, the refined petroleum products sector faced a downturn, with prices decreasing by 4.7% in the domestic market and 4.9% across the Eurozone.

Looking at the broader picture, the fourth quarter of 2024 witnessed a 1.6% increase in producer prices compared to the preceding three-month period, underscoring a consistent upward trajectory in the sector.
