Retail Trade Experiences a Slight Decline

Annual Sales Show Positive Growth
Despite the monthly decline, the annual sales value saw an increase of 3.7%, reaching a total of ¥57.2 trillion. This growth indicates a 3.6% rise in the volume of goods sold compared to December 2023, showcasing the resilience and potential recovery of the retail market.
Wholesale Industry Sees Steady Growth
The wholesale industry also reported positive trends, with the seasonally adjusted value of sales hitting ¥41 trillion. This marks a 3.5% increase year-on-year, further emphasizing the overall growth in Japan's commercial sector despite the slight setback in retail sales.
