HPCL's Milestone LNG Terminal in Gujarat
NEW DELHI: In a significant boost to India's gas import infrastructure, HPCL has successfully received the first LNG shipment at its newly constructed Rs 4,750-crore terminal in Chara, Gujarat. This development is in line with the government's ambitious plan to increase the share of clean-burning fuel in the country's energy mix to 15% by 2030, up from the current 7%.
The terminal boasts an initial capacity to handle 5 million tonnes per annum, with plans to double this capacity in the future. This strategic move not only underscores HPCL's commitment to enhancing India's energy security but also marks a pivotal step towards achieving a greener and more sustainable energy future.
