Andhra Pradesh's Leap into Semiconductor Manufacturing

In a significant development for India's semiconductor industry, Indichip Semiconductors Ltd, in collaboration with Japan's Yitoa Micro Technology (YMTL), has announced a groundbreaking agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government. The deal, valued at Rs 14,000 crore, aims to establish India's first private semiconductor manufacturing facility specializing in Silicon Carbide (SiC) chips.

Strategic Investment for a Sustainable Future

The facility, set to be located at the Orvakal mega industrial hub in Kurnool, is a testament to Andhra Pradesh's commitment to fostering cutting-edge industries. With an initial production capacity of 10,000 wafers per month, the plant is expected to scale up to 50,000 wafers per month within two to three years. This initiative not only aligns with India's Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision but also addresses the global demand for energy-efficient technologies, electric vehicles, and renewable energy solutions.

Government Support and Vision

The agreement was formalized in the presence of Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh and Industries Minister TG Bharat. Minister Lokesh highlighted the state's innovative policies and robust infrastructure as key factors in attracting such high-profile investments. This project is poised to significantly contribute to India's technological advancement and sustainability goals, marking a new era in the country's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
