China Escalates Tensions: New Sanctions on US Firms for Taiwan Arms Sales

China Imposes Sanctions on Seven US Military Firms

In a significant move, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has announced the imposition of new sanctions against seven US military firms and their executives involved in arms sales to Taiwan. This decision comes in response to the US's increased military assistance to Taiwan through its 2025 National Defense Authorization Act.

List of Sanctioned Companies

The companies facing sanctions include Raytheon Canada, Raytheon Australia, Insitu Inc., Hudson Technologies Co., Saronic Technologies, Alcon, and International Marine Engineering. These sanctions, effective immediately, are part of Order No. 16 issued by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

China's Stance on the Issue

Beijing has criticized the US's actions as a violation of the one-China principle, stating that it "seriously damages China's sovereignty and territorial integrity." The measures include freezing assets in China and prohibiting Chinese entities from engaging in transactions or cooperation with the listed firms and their senior managers.

China's Ongoing Response to US-Taiwan Arms Deals

This marks the latest in a series of sanctions issued by China in response to US-Taiwan arms deals, with previous sanctions announced in January, May, July, September, and October. China's actions highlight the ongoing tensions between the two nations over the issue of Taiwan.
