GM Issues Massive Recall: Over 500,000 Vehicles Affected by Critical Engine Defects

GM Announces Major Vehicle Recall Due to Engine Safety Concerns

In a significant move, General Motors has initiated a recall of 597,630 vehicles across the United States. This action comes after the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identified a potential risk associated with the engine components of these vehicles.

Affected Models Include: Certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL models equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine.

The NHTSA documents highlight that the connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may suffer from manufacturing defects. These defects could lead to engine damage or even complete engine failure, posing a significant safety risk.

Remedy for Owners: GM will notify the owners of the affected vehicles, and dealerships will inspect the engines. If any issues are found, the engines will be repaired or replaced at no cost to the vehicle owners.
