Power Almost Fully Restored in Spain

Following a significant outage that left many in the dark, Spain's electricity grid operator, Red Electrica, announced on Tuesday that 99.16% of power demand has been successfully restored. The operator confirmed that all transmission grid substations are now fully operational, marking a swift recovery from the incident.

Portugal's Progress in Power Restoration

On the neighboring front, Portugal's grid operator, REN, reported that power has been reinstated at 85 out of 89 substations, showcasing significant progress in overcoming the challenges posed by the blackout.

Cause of the Blackout Clarified

The outage, attributed to grid oscillations, has been thoroughly investigated. European Commissioner for Competitiveness and First Executive Vice-President for Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, Teresa Ribera, emphasized that there is no evidence to suggest the blackout was the result of sabotage or a cyberattack, providing reassurance to the public and stakeholders alike.
