Power Restoration Begins After Widespread Blackout
Spanish electricity grid operator Red Electrica announced on Monday that efforts to restore power have commenced in various regions of the country following a significant blackout across the Iberian Peninsula.
"We are initiating power recovery in the northern and southern areas of the peninsula, crucial for gradually reinstating electricity supply," stated Red Electrica in a recent update on X. The operator emphasized that "this process entails the gradual re-energization of the transmission grid as generation units are synchronized. Efforts to fully restore supply are ongoing."
Extent of the Blackout
Initial reports from local media indicated that the blackout affected not only Spain and Portugal but also extended to parts of France. The exact cause of the widespread power outage remains unidentified at this time.
