Power Restoration Underway in Spain After Widespread Blackout
Spanish electricity grid operator Red Electrica announced on Monday the initiation of power recovery in several regions following a significant blackout across the Iberian Peninsula. "We are starting to recover power in the north and south of the peninsula, which is key to progressively meet the electricity supply," stated Red Electrica in a recent update on X.
The process involves the gradual energization of the transmission grid as generation units are sequentially coupled, ensuring a steady return to normalcy. "We continue working to restore the supply," the operator added, highlighting ongoing efforts to address the outage.
Unprecedented Blackout Affects Multiple Countries
Reports from local media earlier indicated that the blackout extended beyond Spain, impacting Portugal and parts of France. The cause of this widespread power failure remains unknown, raising concerns and questions among affected populations and authorities alike.
