Government's Immediate Response

The Spanish government announced on Monday that it is "dedicating all resources" to investigate the origins of the massive blackout that affected the Iberian Peninsula today. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, along with other officials, visited the control center of the grid operator Red Electrica to assess the situation firsthand.

Adding to the urgency, the National Cryptologic Center (CCN) revealed it is probing the possibility of a cyberattack as the cause behind the power outage. This development has raised concerns over the security of the nation's critical infrastructure.
