US Oil and Gas Rig Count Shows Weekly Increase Amid Annual Decline, Baker Hughes Reports

Weekly Uptick in US Oil Rig Count

According to the latest Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Friday, the United States saw a slight increase in its oil rig count, which stood at 483 for the week ending April 25. This marks a rise of two rigs from the previous week. However, when compared to the same period last year, the count has decreased by 23 rigs.

Gas Rig Count and Overall Trends

The gas rig count in the US also experienced a minor uptick, increasing by one to 99 in the reported week. Despite this weekly gain, the figure represents a drop of six rigs from the previous year. The total number of active rigs across the country now stands at 582, showing a weekly increase of three but a yearly decrease of 29.

Canadian Rig Count Dips

In contrast to the US, Canada's total rig count saw a decline, dropping by six to 128 on a weekly basis. The oil rig count in Canada fell by six to 81, while the gas rig count remained unchanged from the previous week at 47.
