United Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves announced a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between the UK and the US. Following a meeting with United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Reeves highlighted the discussions on a potential trade agreement aimed at serving the "national interests" of both nations.

UK's Stance on Trade Barriers and Standards

Earlier in the week, Chancellor Reeves emphasized the UK's readiness to eliminate trade barriers to facilitate an agreement. However, she firmly stated that the UK's food and automotive safety standards, along with digital services policies, remain non-negotiable.
