Himachal ahoy: Govt clears Rs 1878 crore, 19-km bypass for Panchkula & Zirakpur

Project Highlights and Benefits

The bypass will start from the junction with NH-7 (Zirakpur-Patiala) and end at the junction with NH-5 (Zirakpur-Parwanoo), effectively bypassing the heavily congested areas of Zirakpur and Panchkula. Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the project's role in reducing travel time and ensuring hassle-free traffic movement on NH-7, NH-5, and NH-152.

A Step Towards Urban Decongestion

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to decongest the Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali urban agglomeration by developing a comprehensive road network. The Zirakpur bypass is a critical component of this plan, aiming to divert traffic from Patiala, Delhi, and Mohali Aerocity, thereby providing direct connectivity to Himachal.
