Investor confidence in the Eurozone has seen a dramatic decrease in April, with the Sentix index dropping sharply from a negative 2.9 in March to a startling negative 19.5. This marks the lowest reading since October 2023, significantly underperforming against analysts' expectations.

Breaking Down the Numbers

The current situation indicator fell by 1.5 points to a negative 23.3, while the expectations index experienced a 2.2-point drop, settling at a negative 15.8. Germany's investor confidence index wasn't spared, plummeting 15.3 points to a negative 27.8. Although the current situation slightly improved by 0.5 points to a negative 39, expectations took a nosedive from a positive 20.5 to a negative 15.8.

What's Behind the Plunge?

"The previous month's economic euphoria in Germany and the EU has completely vanished. Trump's tariff policies have sent global economic indices, including Sentix, into a steep decline," the report highlighted.
