Zomato Lays Off Hundreds in Customer Support
MUMBAI: In a significant workforce reduction, Zomato (now Eternal) has laid off between 500 to 600 employees from its customer support roles, citing non-performance as the primary reason. This move has sparked controversy, with some affected employees claiming they were terminated without any prior notice.

The company had previously expanded its team by hiring over 1,500 individuals last year under the Zomato Associate Accelerator Programme, focusing mainly on bolstering its customer support functions. The majority of these employees were based in Gurgaon and Hyderabad, tasked with resolving customer issues and ensuring smooth service delivery.
Zomato has opted not to comment on the allegations made by the terminated employees, leaving many questions unanswered about the fairness and transparency of the layoff process.
