Germany's Retail Sales Experience Significant Growth
In a promising sign for the German economy, retail sales in February showed a robust increase. According to Destatis, the country's statistical office, calendar and seasonally adjusted turnover in retail trade rose by 4.9% in real terms compared to the same period last year.

Monthly and Annual Performance Highlights
On a monthly basis, the turnover in retail trade saw a 0.8% increase. In nominal terms, the growth was even more pronounced, with retail sales jumping by 5.9% year-on-year and advancing by 0.8% from the previous month.
Sector-Specific Growth
The food retail sector reported a 0.8% increase month-on-month and a 3.3% rise year-on-year in real terms. Meanwhile, the non-food retail trade sector added 0.6% compared to January and 5.2% compared to February 2024.
