UK Retail Sales See Significant Increase

In a recent report by the Office for National Statistics, the United Kingdom witnessed a notable 2.2% increase in retail sales volumes in February compared to the same period last year. This growth, however, fell short of what analysts had anticipated.

On a month-to-month basis, sales saw a 1% rise. A closer look reveals a 6.8% surge in household goods stores and a 1.3% increase in non-food stores. In contrast, food store sales experienced a 2% decline.

Over the three months leading up to February 2025, retail sales volumes demonstrated a 0.3% growth quarter-on-quarter and a 2% increase year-on-year, signaling a steady upward trend in the UK's retail sector.
